Visual Analog Scale (VAS)

The visual analog scale was approved as a method of self-assessment of pain. It is particularly used when initiating new analgesic treatment as it can provide a reference point: the number chosen by the patient before treatment initiation. It can then track the evolution of the patient’s pain following treatment.
